Basically, here’s the process for cleaning a portable toilet:
Pumping
The first step in the cleaning and servicing process is pumping out the waste that’s sitting in the holding tank. We use a high-powered suction hose with a specialized nozzle to remove everything inside so that we can start with a clean slate. At this point, most of the foul smells that are characteristic of a full porta potty are gone and we can get down to the cleaning.
To start we add new blue liquid to the porta potty holding tank. This chemical solution minimizes odors and allows for effective removal of waste, keeping the unit far more sanitary than a traditional outhouse.
Washing
The interior is doused in soapy water to ensure that no crud remains. Then, we get right in there and ensure that the unit is going to be cleaned to the fullest. Dirt, toilet paper, pee, food, or anything else that remains in the unit will soon be removed. Afterward, the result will be a squeaky-clean interior. The inside of the unit is designed with cleaning in mind. That means that there are very few cracks and crevasses for dirt other yucky things to hide.
Scrubbing
Armed with long rubber gloves and other protective equipment, we get to work. Using brushes, we scrub down all the surfaces inside the porta potty to get it extra clean. Then, after muscling through the cleaning process, we use a pressure washer or hose to spray all the remaining soap off. Afterwards, the inside is wiped down to remove excess water and ensure no grime is missed.
Restocking
After the portable toilet unit has been cleaned, consumables like toilet paper and hand sanitizer are restocked. For units that have a sink, soap and hand towels will also be restocked. This ensures the unit is ready for use again right away.
This cleaning process is done on a regular schedule at longer events or when portable toilets are permanently stationed someplace.
