4 Things No One Tells You About Porta Potties

You probably think you know everything there is to know about porta potties. I mean, what’s there to know? They’re functional boxy-looking units that you can find at special events and parks that get the job done and sometimes smell sort of funky, right? Wrong!

There’s so much more to know about portable toilets – things that will dispel a lot of the myths you’ve heard and might really blow you away! So let’s get started…

  1. They’re Not All the Same
  2. First of all, portable toilets aren’t all the same. Sure, everyone has seen the standard portable toilet units that are frequently lined up at street fairs, community races, and other special events, but those are just the basic models. There are also ADA-compliant units that have giant roomy interiors, big enough for a wheelchair or double stroller to comfortably maneuver inside. Then there are elite units that are basically like standard units with pizzazz. They come complete with a foot pump activated flushing toilet, interior fresh water sink, hand soap and paper towels. They also have a few extras like a coat hook, small shelf, and mirror. These are great for weddings and parties!

To take things one step further, there are also luxury restroom trailers, which you really have to see to believe! These offer flushable toilets, sinks with hot and cold running water, climate controlled interiors, and fancy decorative accents. Check out the different luxury restroom units that are offered across Michigan!

  3. They’re Actually Quite Sanitary
  4. Every portable toilet unit comes with either a hand sanitizer pump or a sink with hand soap. Luxury portable toilets all come with sinks, hand soap, and spacious countertops to rest your belongings while you wash your hands. At big events you’ll also typically see standalone hand sanitizer stations or handwashing stations to allow more people to use the portable toilets faster and give people the option to just wash their hands without having to wait in line and go into the bathroom unit itself. These ate just another option to ensure that everyone will remain as sanitary as possible, which is very important at events where food will be served and consumed.

  5. You Can’t Have Too Many
  6. No one has ever gone to an event and said “You know, that was a really fun day. The only problem was that there were just too many portable toilets available to use!” However, the opposite is definitely true. You’ll hear people talking about going to the county fair, a music festival, marathon, street festival, circus, or some other great event and say that they had a great time but the liens to use the bathroom were really long or they had to walk really far to find a bathroom. Having too few bathrooms is a surefire way to make people unhappy and cause them to question whether or not they want to stick around or return in subsequent years. For this reason, we tell anyone that asks us for a quote that you just simply can’t have too many portable toilets! This is especially true when it comes to our luxury restrooms, because they’re such a novelty, that people really want to use them! In fact, we’ve seen people stand in long lines to use them when there are available porta johns nearby because they prefer the experience of using a fancy bathroom!

  7. They Can Get People Talking
  8. It may surprise you to hear this, but luxury restroom trailers can really get people talking! Seriously. We’ve had repeat customers rent restroom trailers from us and they tell us that the guests at their events raved about the bathrooms before even mentioning the food or festivities. The reason is simple – people just don’t expect to find such luxury in a portable restroom so it’s a novelty. The amenities make people feel like they’re in a hotel or restaurant bathroom, and that’s something that they really appreciate when at an outdoor event (especially if it’s really hot outside).
