As a portable toilet supplier, we service a wide range of event types every year, but some of our favorite events are outdoor weddings. With as many ceremonies and receptions as we’ve serviced with our portable restrooms for weddings, we’ve talked to a lot of experienced wedding planners. So, we’ve learned a lot and seen a lot first-hand!
Here are the top outdoor wedding tips from the pros themselves:
Use Portable Restrooms for Weddings
Wedding portable restrooms are different than standard porta potties. Portable restrooms for weddings are luxury restroom trailers. These trailers boast unparalleled aesthetics and amenities. While these units can be used for any kind of black-tie event (such as formal parties, charity fundraisers, and farm-to-table dinners) they are a staple for outdoor weddings. Luxury restrooms have spacious interiors to give the wedding party and guests a place to get ready and freshen up in a private, climate-controlled space no matter where the wedding is located. These units are a far cry from typical blue porta johns. In fact, people will probably forget that they’re even attending an outdoor event because the luxury portable toilets are so nice inside.
Hire a Caterer
Some brides and grooms-to-be opt for a potluck-style wedding to cut down on costs. However, relying on a friend or family member to cook or bring food is not without risk. Amateurs do not have the equipment and experience that professional caterers do to ensure proper food safety measures are followed. An outdoor wedding creates unique challenges that necessitate a professional caterer. While the cake is often less risky than appetizers and meals, using a local bakery is advised as well. But don’t worry! Some catering companies can handle all aspects of food including the wedding cake, reducing the number of vendors that you’ll need to organize.
Plan for the Climate
Rent a party tent, heaters, fans, or any other equipment that will keep your guests comfortable. Depending on the time of the year, time of the day, and specific location, your outdoor wedding may be more prone to inclement weather. For instance, lakeshore weddings are more likely to have passing rain showers or strong wind. A tent is a great way to protect guests from all types of weather – rain, sun, and wind. Remember, it’s always better to have these items and not need them!
Use an Outdoor Photographer
Ensure that your photographer has experience photographing outdoor weddings, not just events inside. Outdoor photographers have mastered different techniques that will allow them to capture your event better out in nature. Additionally, they will likely have different equipment that’s designed to hold up to the rigors of outdoor photography, allowing more versatility for better picture quality.
Use Signs
Unlike an indoor wedding venue, which likely has a logical flow pattern, an outdoor wedding may be spread over a wider area that is harder to navigate. Keep guests informed by posting signs to direct them. Use signage to clearly tell people where to go and what to do. Lead them to the parking area, gift table, wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Post the schedule of events, food/drink menu, and other helpful information. Using signs adds a cute touch and frees up people to enjoy the event that would otherwise have to provide these instructions verbally to guests.
