Planning a wedding can be really exciting but also stressful if you try to tackle everything at once. If you’re starting to do the research to plan your perfect spring wedding, there are a few things that you should start with and then you can let the rest of the details fall into place. Of course, you can always hire an event planner but to keep wedding expenses down you will want to coordinate as many pieces as possible yourself. These are the most important things to figure out upfront:
Photo-Worthy Location
Choosing your outdoor wedding location should be your first priority. Keep in mind that your wedding will be in the spring so you may need to take the season into account when deciding on a location. Some locations have really beautiful flowers or other greenery that won’t be in full bloom at the time of your wedding. Other locations may be located on dirt roads that can still be very muddy in early spring. These types of things may affect your ability to create beautiful wedding photos. When evaluating locations ask to see pictures that are specifically from the month when you’re hoping to have your wedding. Then, if you like what you see, you can start to explore dates and finalize a location.
Flowers and Decorations
Deciding on the decorations for your wedding is something that needs to be done early because you may need to special order some items. If you want to make any items yourself (like table decorations, favors, centerpieces, or dresses), you’ll need time to get the components and then assemble everything with enough time before the wedding that you can provide some samples to the florist for inspiration to tie in with the flowers. The sooner you can do this the better because you might be able to lock in a reduced rate if you book a florist well in advance. Additionally, many florists are small shops so they can get booked up quickly during wedding season.
Seasonal Menu
Good caterers and bakers are busy year-round so having a set date may cause you to need to shop around for ones that will be available for your big day. You’ll need time to communicate your wants to your caterer and bakery so that you can set up a tasting to finalize the menu. You’ll want to do this well in advance of the big day so that you don’t leave a detail that’s as important as the food to the last minute. (Keep in mind that your fiancé, maid of honor, and parents may want to be present for the tastings as well to give their feedback so organizing everyone’s schedule can sometimes be tricky as well.) As you start to build your guest list you’ll have an idea of how many people to expect so you can ask educated questions about per guest pricing at the tasting or subsequent meetings.
Luxury Restrooms
An outdoor wedding is a great way to enjoy your most special moments in nature but it can also pose a problem if your location is remote or if your wedding is going to be big enough that the provided restrooms won’t be enough for your guests. In both of these cases luxury restroom trailers are a perfect option! These are generally preferred over typical porta potties for weddings but they can also be used in conjunction with each other to offer a more cost-effective solution. Keep in mind that not every portable restroom service will offer these types of luxury restrooms in addition to standard portable toilets. So you will need to inquire about these specifically when contacting portable restroom suppliers. Trailers get booked up quickly during wedding season so you will want to start this research right away once your venue is secured to ensure that a bathroom supplier services the area where your wedding will be held and get any pricing information that may be specific to your location.
