Planning your special day? Sure, your Mom, sister, coworker, and nosey neighbor may have a lot of advice on what you need or what you should do (and don’t even get us started on your mother-in-law!) but these are the only real must-haves for your wedding:
- The Right Ambiance
Everything that you have at your wedding ceremony and reception combines to create a certain ambiance (or feel) for your wedding – the venue, flowers, decorations, favors, food, etc. There’s really no limit when it comes to ideas for your wedding – we’ve seen everything from rustic chic and upscale modern to summer casual and simple traditional. The important thing is that you find the right ambiance for you as a couple. Your wedding should be a reflection of your tastes and desires for your future together. So while no one can tell you what your theme should be (or if you should have one at all), you’ll know whether or not something is right for your wedding in your gut. And don’t be afraid to just bring together different elements that you like even if they don’t “match” or “go together.” As long as you like them, that’s all that matters!
- A Complete Guest List
Sometimes your choice of venue will limit the number of people that you can invite, which isn’t a problem as long as you have room for everyone that should be there. Don’t sacrifice on your guest list just to try to fit your wedding ceremony and reception into a particular location. Years down the road you won’t regret going with your second or third choice wedding venue, but you will look back and wish that certain friends or family were there if you couldn’t invite them. This is why having an outdoor wedding is such a popular idea – it can be less expensive to reserve and also allows you to have a larger guest list.
- Opportunities to Have Fun
Don’t forget that a wedding should be a happy occasion for everyone in attendance. This means giving guests plenty of opportunities to have fun. Don’t get so carried away with filling every second with things like speeches, planned dances, and the cake cutting that you forget to just leave time for your guests to eat comfortably, explore the venue, dance, and socialize with each other. No one likes to go to a wedding and have it feel like they didn’t get a chance to talk to anyone or enjoy themselves. Depending on the venue, you can also give guests special opportunities to have fun by providing things like a photo booth, make-your-own sundae station, petting zoo, garden tour, or anything else that people might enjoy doing!
- Unique Touches
This should go without being said, but you need to make your wedding yours. You don’t want to try to copy another wedding that you went to and really liked or a wedding that you saw on social media because then it won’t be true to who you are. Take some of the things that make you and your fiancé so special and integrate them into the festivities. Whether that means playing some of your favorite songs, offering your favorite entrée as an option, turning the guest book into art that you’ll cherish, providing details about how you met and what you like most about each other in the programs or on the tables, add the touches that will make your wedding stand out as totally unique!
- Clean Accessible Bathrooms
Sure, your guests probably won’t think back about their fond memories of using the bathroom at your wedding, but they’ll certainly remember if they had to hike a long way to use the facilities or if they were really gross. This is why it’s so important to rent luxury restrooms if you’re planning on having an outdoor wedding. This is something that a lot of brides forget to look into, but as many wedding planners will tell you, this is a really important detail. If you just leave it up to the venue to provide, they will likely just rent the cheapest bathroom units that they can find, and these won’t be as nice for your guests to use as providing luxury restroom trailers.
